In this week's lab meeting we discussed Peretz-Lange and Kibbe’s (2023) article, ““Shape bias” goes social: Children categorize people by weight rather than race”. This article addresses children’s tendencies to categorize objects according to shapes compared to other properties, such as weight, race or colour. The findings of the study suggest that children are more likely to use weight as a predictor for an individual’s internal properties and this shape bias extends to the social domain.
